Dissolution

dissolutionR. D. Laboratories, Inc. performs dissolution on a large number of finished dosage forms, primarily tablets. The most commonly used apparati are Apparatus 1 (Basket) and Apparatus 2 (Paddle). This empirical test is used to measure the dissolution of an active ingredient in a specified medium, with a given apparatus over a time period. This may be a one point measurement or multi-point timed-release determination. Analytical analyses of the predetermined sample intervals are normally accomplished using HPLC, UV-VIS Spectrophotometry, AA or sometimes GC. This test is critical in determining that the active drugs have been released from the dosage form.
